Hello!

My name is Natascha Barreto-Romero, and I am proud to serve as the principal at Galindo Elementary. I am so excited to be part of the rich traditions and experiences that the Galindo teachers, staff, and families provide for our students.

I started my career in education in 2001 at Walnut Creek Elementary teaching pre-K and Kindergarten. I went to graduate school at Texas State and received my masters of education in curriculum and instruction and earned a Master Reading Teacher Certification. I worked as a reading specialist and instructional coach with 2nd through 5th grades for many years before serving as an assistant principal at an AISD campus in Southeast Austin.

I am married and have 3 children (and a poodle too!). We live in South Austin and enjoy spending time outside hiking, swimming, camping -- just about anything outdoors! 

I enjoyed meeting many of you and seeing returning faces as we have started the school year together. I am so excited for the year to come!
