4-22 Wednesday Announcements

Galindo Families,

This is Ms. Barreto-Romero with your What’s Up Wednesday edition of the robocall for Wednesday, April 22nd.

  1. Nurse: Our wonderful Galindo School Nurse, Brooke Osborne, is available 8:00a - 5:00p each day by phone to answer any health related questions or concerns parents may have. Her phone number is 503-956-7839. If you need assistance any other time you can call this 24 hour hotline: 512-472-4357.

  2. Special Areas Lessons: Don’t forget to look at Ms. Abrahams’ and Ms. Langan’s BLEND pages to get lessons for Music and Art. You can visit Mr. Bennett on YouTube by searching “Move with Mr. Bennett”. Ms. Abrahams, Mr. Bennett, and Ms. Langan have office hours every day from 1:00 - 2:00 where you can Zoom with them and discuss their lessons.

  3. Learning Packets:  AISD will soon move towards mailing out learning packets to ALL students who receive free or reduced lunch. Please contact Galindo main line at 512-414-1756 if you need to update your mailing address. You can also request a learning packet by visiting the AISD Learning at Home website, even if you don’t receive free or reduced lunch.

  4. Food Resources: Dawson Elementary is continuing to offer meals from AISD Food Services every weekday from 11 am to 1 pm. They will resume giving additional food on Fridays to help support your family over the weekend. Additionally, Foundations Community Sierra Vista located at 4320 S. Congress Ave. Austin, TX 78745 will have a food pantry grocery distribution on Thursday, April 23rd from 6 - 8 pm. Children do not need to be present to pick up the food.

  5. Weekly Assessments: Don’t forget that each week Galindo Teachers will assess your students progress on the activities they have been completing in Distance Learning. Based on AISD Board Policy, students will receive a “P” for Pass or an “I” for Incomplete. A “P” will indicate that a student has made adequate progress and likely does not need intervention in the following school year on this skill. While an “I” will identify students who have not participated and will be in need of extra support during the following school year. A great way to find out how your child is doing is to visit with your teacher during their daily office hours.
